I'm done with college for the summer, and I haven't posted a journal entry since Christmas, so, here you go. I wasn't doing much art-wise in college that I would have been able to submit easily to deviantart, so I'm sorry for the lack of content in the past few months. I'll probably be able to submit more stuff, since I plan on drawing something every day of the summer (except for when I go on vacation). The first of these drawings I've already submitted is based off of the incredibly wacky and awesome youtube series called "These are the Mysteries" by ricesnot. I hope to submit more stuff soon.

So yeah. It's a few days after Christmas. I haven't been submitting much (but I haven't had a whole lot of ideas recently). I did get some pretty cool stuff, however. Such as my nifty Wacom Intuos 5 tablet and a copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements 2. I've been playing around with my tablet and getting used to using it, so maybe I can submit a few new things. Now that I do have a tablet, ideas have been pouring out of my head like water from a faucet, although I might have to get better at using my tablet before I can draw them and not have my drawing look terrible (I'm looking at YOU, Tali'Zorah) but hopefully after some practice and watching some speedpaints on youtube, I will be able to do cool things on my tablet.

So next week I'm going back to college. It's hard to believe the summer went so fast... *sigh* Anyway, I'm taking this really cool art class this year called Artists and Materials (or something like that) and so there will be a lot of opportunities for me to submit stuff. But even so, I'm still pretty nervous to go back. I've resolved to be more active socially and physically, however I find it difficult to look forward to the cramped beds, icky cafeteria food and filthy showers (ironic, isn't it?). But I guess I should be happy that I had a great summer and had lots of fun with my friends. Although it was mostly uneventful, I did get to go to Anime Iowa with and (which was very fun), and I got to take a trip to Chicago with my parents (which was also very fun). So I can't say I did nothing at all this summer, or that it was boring. Oh well. Maybe it will be a better year this time (except for the zombie apocalypse in December).

Yay! I survived my freshman year of college! I'm so glad it's finally summer. Now I'll have more free time and more opportunities to submit art (I guess). I'm also learning to drive, so wish me luck with that (because it is pretty exciting in a scary way).
ALSO I have a new Steam account! My username is Oceangrl and my nickname is Melody Mare (both, incidentally, originate from Minecraft) so if you wanna friend me or play TF2 or GMod, here you go.

Well, I've nearly done it. I'm almost done with my freshman year of college. What a year it's been! Although I haven't really submitted much (due to my busy schedule), I hope to submit more art over the summer. I'm glad that school is almost out. It's been difficult to find friends here because I'm pretty introverted and shy, and that hasn't made anything easier. All of my TRUE friends are still back home, and I guess that won't change any time soon. I've done my best to find friends (though I probably could've done more) and I've done pretty well academically, although I've had to lighten my course load so I could actually get good grades.
Anyway, I've only got 3 weeks and four days left! Wish me luck!
